With over 25 years in the Health and Fitness Industry and a successful business, Gillian went back to school in 2021 determined to help people find more peace and joy in their bodies and in their life. Inspired by her work with clients, Gillian pursued a Masters in Counselling Psychology and is now a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). Her dual registration as a Clinical Counsellor and Personal Trainer affords her a unique perspective, and skill-set to support her clients.
Whether you’re looking to heal from traumatic experiences, explore your beliefs and values, develop your self-esteem, build your resiliency toolkit, manage symptoms of depression or anxiety, explore your relationship with health, or build a path towards thriving, Gillian would be honoured to support you.
Gillian is passionate about a Health at Every Size (HAES®) approach that advocates the dignity and respect for all bodies and a health-first approach. She integrates her experience and training as a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and Personal Trainer into her work as a Clinical Counsellor with the goal of helping folks thrive (on their terms).
She works with clients locally in her hometown of Nanaimo, and virtually with clients throughout BC as a clinical counsellor and around the world as a coach through one-to-one coaching, as well as her signature Super You Mindset Course and virtual body-positive fitness studio.
Gillian is also a published author (her book The Elephant in the Gym was published in 2018), and has contributed to Thrive Global and been a podcast guest on multiple shows including Vibrant Happy Women with Jen Riday and Harvesting Happiness Talk Radio with Lisa Cypers Kamen. She has presented workshops and keynote addresses to BCRPA, Thrifty Foods, and Mom Camp (among others) and is an entertaining, enthusiastic, and engaging speaker.
Gillian lives on Vancouver Island with her husband Mike and two children Connor and Chase. She spends her free time swimming in the gorgeous lakes and ocean, hiking the local mountains, walking her dog Tucker and enjoying all the wild west coast has to offer.
