Sarah Mermin is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Newport, Rhode Island with expertise in helping clients mindfully navigate anxiety, depression, and trauma. Having previously worked at a rape crisis/domestic violence center, she has a particular specialty in helping clients heal from relational, physical, and sexual trauma. She takes pride in building a safe space for clients to process their trauma at a comfortable pace in order to move forward with greater confidence into the future.
Sarah uses a holistic, body-oriented approach to help clients stay grounded in the present moment. She utilizes a mix of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and elements ofEye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) psychotherapy. Sarah also brings over 20 years of experience as a yoga teacher to therapy, and tailors her approach to the needs of each client.
Sarah enjoys supporting young adults and adults in her private practice. She takes special care in developing a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients, gently guiding them through emotional challenges and increasing their sense of self-worth.
