Help clients reclaim full access to their affective experience and reclaim their core selves,
moving from experiences of suffering and distress to one of internal liberation.
Description
It is well-documented that people belonging to oppressed social groups experience more negative life events and experience higher levels of stress and mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, and symptoms of PTSD. These occur not only as a result of discrimination and prejudice expressed institutionally and inter-relationally, but also from a lack of a secure connection to others and to the culture at large.
In this new seminar designed to be compelling and interactive for both in-person and online participants, we will delve into the impact that systems of power, privilege, and oppression can have on a client’s identity development and on their emotional experience, relational experience, and sense of self. Together, we will explore specific interventions and experiential methods for helping clients reclaim the Core Self and expand their felt sense of internal liberation.

Praise for The Triangle of Social Experience
I appreciated the work he has done on oppression and AEDP. As a bipoc person this resonated with me deeply and am grateful to have this framework to understand myself and clients. His video work was very moving and inspiring!
—Meena Ramaswamy, RPsychologist
I really appreciated your excellent, thoughtful presentation and will be sure to follow you.
—Elizabeth Yeonas, Resident Counselor
Ben was excellent and his work was very helpful to watch. There was just enough contrast in his video for the opportunity to see how a therapist has individualized it.
—K. Fitzgerald LCSW
I have a deep appreciation & reverence from your development of the model as applied to groups. I am excited to learn more and see more video examples of AEDP work with other facets of oppression & diverse populations.
—PsyD, Hawai’i
Ben made the topic easier to be with by his presence and the way he kindly organized the presentation. His care was really felt throughout.
—Ria Anastasia Nieboer LMSW CAADC
Enjoyed Ben’s warm inclusive style of presenting and answering questions. I also came away struck by his sharing with his videotaped client how each new meeting with a stranger is potentially a new coming out.
—Jacqueline Brady, LPC
Great piece on the three types of oppression and emphasizing the intra-relational embodiment of systemic oppression. That was powerful.
—Ishan Sharma, MD
This triangle is a necessary addition to the AEDP framework in my opinion and I’m so grateful for Ben (and other’s) work on making it a reality and for teaching us about it.
