AEDP® Levels & Pathway to Certification

AEDP’s tiered training path supports your growth from foundational to advanced practice. Each level builds on the one before. Wondering where you are? Here’s the breakdown:

Level 1: Completion of AEDP Immersion
Level 2: Immersion + Essential Skills
Level 3: Immersion + Essential Skills + one of the following:

  • Option A: Five Advanced Skills courses + one supervision option
  • Option B: Two supervision options

Supervision Options

  • 15 hours individual supervision (at least 5 hours showing video)
  • 30 hours group supervision (at least 5 hours showing video)

Notes: Supervisors-in-Training may provide supervision to therapists of any level. A maximum of 10 total supervision hours, whether from one or multiple Supervisors-in-Training, may be applied immediately toward AEDP Level 3 supervision requirements.

Additional supervision beyond these 10 hours is encouraged for learning and consultation; however, these extra hours may be applied toward a therapist’s Level 3 requirements only once the Supervisor(s)-in-Training have become Certified Supervisors.

Supervisors-in-Training may not serve as Certification Supervisors for Level 3 therapists seeking certification.

Need an exception? For agency-based therapists unable to use video or other audio recording, must email the AEDP Certification Committee.

AEDP Certified Therapist:o  Once Level 3 is complete, you’re eligible to apply to become a Supervisor-in-Training

Supervision at a Glance

Starting supervision immediately after Immersion and continuing it alongside Essential Skills is highly recommended. This approach enhances the learning experience, allowing the concepts and techniques from both training and supervision to complement and deepen one another effectively.
