Relational attunement is the heart of my life and my professional practice as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and wilderness guide. Healthy, empathetic connection makes internal secure attachment possible, and it is from this place that we thrive.
I am dedicated to meaningful, supportive connections, both with self, nature, and others; I am inspired by the power we each possess to heal and grow when understood by a caring other.
Our capacity for introspection is uniquely human and offers us the opportunity to evolve emotionally and behaviorally beyond our past in tremendous ways; a process of becoming that I believe is courageous and ultimately fulfilling.
It is with this belief and intention in mind that I openly and compassionately invite people into the therapeutic process. I believe that successful healing and growth require a collaborative relationship between practitioner and client. In this collaboration, I offer non-judgment, and I honor all parts of you, your story, and your goals in therapy. As a practitioner, I am passionate about helping people deeply understand themselves, create connected relationships, develop healthy behaviors, and function from a place of wholeness. I believe healing and growing through psychotherapy is a pathway to empowerment. In therapy, you can understand the influences of past experiences, attachment relationships, and society on the self, and learn how to resolve those disturbances to become your best self despite the past.
My professional lens is deeply rooted in modern neuroscience, specifically trauma-informed attachment and somatic therapy. From this perspective, I utilize an integrated approach to achieve healing, using a wide range of modalities in which I have trained and studied. I partner with individuals and couples who want to work with/on their relationships, family dynamics, communication skills, trauma (past or present), attachment patterns, grief, anxiety, and/or depression by addressing unresolved trauma and/or dysfunction. I am deeply committed to the therapeutic process, offering a safe and compassionate environment for people to engage directly in meaningful work that creates change and possibility.
In addition to a wide variety of trauma-informed clinical counseling skills, Megan is a Certified Clinical Trauma Practitioner (CCTP), which includes training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Applied Polyvagal Theory, Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Megan is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Somatic therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), and Nature-based therapy. She also utilizes Gestalt, Mindfulness, and Psychodynamic interventions to offer clients an integrated approach rooted in current neuroscience and Fourth Wave Psychotherapy.
Megan also supervises LPCCs in Colorado and provides consultation for licensed professional therapists.
