Therapy for Bicultural Professionals: Healing Across Cultures
You move between two worlds—and somewhere along the way, you may have learned to keep parts of yourself quiet. The feelings that don't translate. The longing that doesn't fit either culture. The sense that you're fluent everywhere and fully at home nowhere.
I'm Dr. Yuko Hanakawa, a Senior Faculty member of the AEDP Institute with over 20 years of clinical experience. As a bicultural immigrant myself, I understand—not just clinically, but personally—what it means to navigate identity, belonging, and emotional expression across cultures.
My work centers on bicultural professionals, immigrants, and adult children of immigrants, especially those from Asian backgrounds, who are navigating the tension between cultural heritage and their own authentic voice. Together we honor the wisdom in how you've learned to cope, while gently making room for fuller emotional aliveness.
Using AEDP, I help clients move beyond insight into felt experience—working with the body and nervous system so that healing is something you feel, not just understand.
If you're carrying the quiet weight of living between cultures, you don't have to sort it out alone.
