AEDP Levels Defined: Your Path to Level 3

Reaching AEDP Level 3 reflects advanced mastery of the AEDP model. It marks a significant step in refining your clinical skills, strengthening your professional identity, and deepening your engagement in the AEDP community.

This pathway is structured, cumulative, and designed to support you at every stage of your growth.

AEDP Training Levels

Level 1 — Foundation

Complete Immersion

Build a strong foundation in AEDP theory, core principles, and clinical practice.


Level 2 — Developing Practice

Complete:

  • Immersion
  • Essential Skills (ES1)

Deepen your experiential learning and develop greater technical fluency in AEDP.


Level 3 — Advanced Standing

Complete:

  • Immersion
  • Essential Skills (ES1)

Plus ONE of the Following Pathways

Option A — Advanced Skills Pathway

  • Complete 5 Advanced Skills Modules (ASMs)
  • Complete 1 Supervision Option

OR

Option B — Supervision Intensive Pathway

  • Complete 2 Supervision Options

Supervision Options

Candidates may choose individual supervision, group supervision, or a combination of both formats.

Individual Supervision

  • 15 hours required
  • Candidates must present clinical video recordings for a minimum of 5 hours and receive supervision based on those recordings.

Group Supervision

  • 30 hours required
  • Candidates must present clinical video recordings for a minimum of 5 hours and receive supervision based on those recordings.

Combined Option

  • 2 hours of group supervision = 1 hour of individual supervision

Who Can Provide Supervision?

Supervision may be completed with:

  • AEDP Faculty
  • Certified Supervisors
  • Supervisors-in-Training

Important Notes About Supervisors-in-Training

  • Up to 10 supervision hours with a Supervisor-in-Training may count immediately toward Level 3 requirements.
  • Additional supervision hours completed with a Supervisor-in-Training will count once that supervisor achieves certification.
  • Supervisors-in-Training may not serve as your Certification Supervisor once you begin the certification process.
