- Explain how racialized trauma and manifestations of racialized trauma manifests in society and the therapy room and
- identify methods to decolonize therapy when working with BIPOC populations.
- Analyze the importance of therapeutic interventions to mitigate and alleviate the harm of systemic racism and oppression
in micro therapeutic practice. - Apply skills to lower defenses when discussing racialized trauma with BIPOC populations.
- Demonstrate 2 ways to develop a safe and supportive environment when engaging in conversations about race.
- Demonstrate skills to modify distorted thought patterns related to systemic racism/oppression and racialized trauma.
- Cultivate emotion regulation skills to manage intense emotions that may arise during therapy sessions when addressing racial trauma.
- Apply AEDP interventions, including integration, right-brain-to-right-brain communication, somatic tracking, and dyadic regulation, to cultivate culturally attuned therapeutic relationships.
- Demonstrate and practice allyship between BIPOC and non-BIPOC therapists.
- Cultivate and increase cultural sensitivity when facilitating therapy with BIPOC patients.
- Foster empathic confrontation to validate feelings while gently challenging defensive behaviors associated with racial trauma.
- Provide psychoeducation regarding the effects of racialized trauma and the importance of cultural sensitivity regarding racial trauma.
- Promote self-compassion to foster a kind and understanding attitude towards oneself and others.
- Demonstrate 2 ways to apply ‘change-for-the-better’ with cultural responsiveness.
