AEDP Regional Communities

AEDP is an approach that highly values human connection and as such, believes in the importance of fostering community among clinicians as well. With more and more psychotherapists around the world expressing an interest in learning AEDP, the AEDP Institute has encouraged well trained AEDP clinicians to form sustainable, regional AEDP communities through which learning, professional enrichment, social support and networking can take place.

The regional communities listed below constitute a grass roots effort to build a theoretical and collegial “secure base” for enriching trainees’ learning of AEDP and in supporting them in the often challenging work of facilitating change.

We are constantly adding new regional communities to this page! United States and Canadian regional communities are listed by city name wth their state/province and country. Outside of North America our communities (for now) each represent entire countries!

AEDP Central Virginia

We are a group of AEDP therapists committed to growing and supporting our local AEDP community through trainings, consultation, referrals, and social gatherings. We began in 2012 with two local therapists who went to Immersion in NYC and have grown to an association with an email list of more than 100 regional clinicians. We host a yearly in-person seminar, supervision groups, and bi-monthly social gatherings. In 2023, we incorporated under the name VAEP, or the Virginia Association of Experiential Psychotherapists. Our Steering Committee meets quarterly and guides the direction of our association.

If you live in our area or near our area, please reach out and we will add you to our email list. You can contact us at vaepinfo@gmail.com

AEDP Fingerlakes
This group originated in Kate Halliday’s personal desire to have colleagues to share her enthusiasm for AEDP, and to whom she could refer clients. Starting in 2015, Kate began offering training groups to local clinicians. There are currently two ongoing groups of therapists, who eagerly meet to learn AEDP theory and practice basic skills. Several members have been venturing to New York, Boston, and even Durham North Carolina to attend further trainings at the Institute. We are starting to invite other Certified AEDP Clinicians and Supervisors to visit Ithaca and present their work. We are excited to report that therapists from as far away as Rochester are signing up to attend.

AEDP 香港

Primary language: Cantonese

We are a group of certified AEDP supervisors and therapists in Hong Kong, aiming to promote and develop the spirit and model of AEDP in our community. We started in 2005 when Dr. Danny Yeung introduced AEDP to us. We were honored by Dr. Diana Fosha’s visit and training in 2010 and 2015. We have established a center-based AEDP community located at the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong, serving our community members by providing supervised AEDP services. Almost every year we organize an Immersion Course 香港「感動治療」證書課程, Core Skills Training, Clinical Supervision and advanced workshops to clinicians. We have also formed an Alumni Association for our graduates to maintain a strong momentum to learn and to contribute to the AEDP community, particularly through the regular publications and media release in our Chinese community.

AEDP Israel

The AEDP community in Israel consists of approximately 170 therapists who engage in learning AEDP. The first encounter of Israeli therapists, learning AEDP as a formal group, was during Dr. Diana Fosha’s first visit to Israel, in 2014 (endorsed by the AEDP Institute and the IDC). Since then, AEDP faculty members, lecturers, and assistants have arrived at our country, enhancing AEDP understanding and skills. These professional visits included an Immersion course, an ES1 course, an ES2 course, and workshops. Additionally, online seminars were offered by Diana Fosha and by supervisors, and will continue as part of the community’s needs for professional growth. Alongside studies provided by the institute, Israeli members offer various learning opportunities for their community, in Hebrew.

The community in Israel has set goals for modeling AEDP principles in our professional environment:

  • Welcoming every therapist who shows interest in AEDP
  • Reaching out to colleagues for referrals and support
  • Exhibiting gestures of giving – in times of need (as the Covid-19 time, for instance)
  • Keeping an environment of openness to new ideas arising by community members annually, beginning each year

The members communicate in an orderly fashion using a community listserv, a formal website, and a Facebook page. You are most welcome to visit the AEDP-Israel website at: www.aedpisrael.org. There, you will notice the use of Hebrew, Arabic, and English, as part of our massage of pluralism. Moreover, you may find specific members through our Israeli Directory on the website. For any questions please contact us through the website or at: idit.setter@gmail.com.
