Mary Anne Lowell, LCSW
Mary Anne is a certified AEDP psychotherapist and supervisor. After graduating from New York University, she obtained certification as a psychoanalyst and supervising analyst at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in New York City. She was also a certified yoga teacher with a focus on integrating the two disciplines in her psychotherapeutic work. Her first contact with AEDP was at a Friday afternoon presentation by AEDP therapists at Mt. Sinai Hospital. The warmth of the community and their highly-skilled transformative work served as motivation for her to seek further training.
At the 2013 Immersion course, she was awed to see Diana Fosha and other faculty presenters co-create a spacious state of being between therapist and patient. Mary Anne recognized this state as expanded awareness in which powerful change can occur. Her AEDP training had brought together her earlier analytic learning and yoga practice. She is profoundly grateful for her wonderful teachers and supervisors, Jeanne Newhouse, SueAnne Piliero, Jerry Lamagna and Jenn Edlin. Mary Anne has since assisted in Immersion and Experiential Skills courses and enjoyed the opportunity to contribute clinical material to the 16-session AEDP research study. She was certified as an AEDP therapist in 2019 and AEDP supervisor in 2024.
