Why Get Certified?
AEDP Certification is a rigorous yet rewarding process designed for clinicians dedicated to deepening their understanding and practice of AEDP. Certification signifies a high level of proficiency in the AEDP model and a commitment to transformational, experiential psychotherapy.

Certification Pathway
AEDP offers a two-step certification process. You must first become a Certified AEDP Therapist before pursuing Supervisor Certification.
1. AEDP Therapist Certification
For licensed clinicians who seek to demonstrate competence in AEDP therapy.
2. AEDP Supervisor Certification
For certified AEDP therapists who wish to supervise and mentor others.
Therapist Certification Process
Certification as an AEDP Therapist follows a structured path, including required AEDP training, supervision, and evaluation of clinical competence.

Prerequisites
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Hold a valid mental health license (or equivalent) in their jurisdiction
- Complete AEDP Immersion and AEDP Essential Skills
- Participate in both individual and group AEDP supervision with an AEDP-certified supervisor
- Complete additional AEDP training to reach Level 3 See AEDP Levels Defined here
Steps to AEDP Therapist Certification
- Complete Level 3 Requirements (See AEDP Levels Defined)
- Submit Application for Certification
- Document supervision and assisting hours
- Provide a self-assessment (View application)
- Receive Supervision from your Certification Supervisor to help you complete your certification package for review
- A minimum of 10 hours with a chosen AEDP-certified Certification Supervisor
- Submit Certification Package
- Include a recommendation letter from your Certification Supervisor
- Final Review & Approval
- Approved candidates receive official AEDP Therapist Certification
- Recognition on the AEDP Clinical Listserv and updated status in the Therapist Directory
Supervisor Certification Process
Certified AEDP Therapists who wish to supervise and mentor others must complete additional training and evaluation.

- Be a Certified AEDP Therapist
- Have substantial experience as an AEDP Experiential Assistant
- Engage in Supervision-of-Supervision with an AEDP-certified Faculty member
Steps to Supervisor Certification
- Complete Supervisor Training
- Participate in AEDP Supervisor Training Workshops
- Receive Supervision-of-Supervision
- Engage in structured supervision while providing AEDP supervision
- Submit recorded supervision sessions for review
- Submit Application for Supervisor Certification
- Include evaluations from mentor supervisors, recorded supervision sessions, and a self-assessment
- Final Review & Approval
- Applications are reviewed by two AEDP Faculty members
- Approved candidates receive official AEDP Supervisor Certification
Maintaining Certification
Certified AEDP Therapists and Supervisors are encouraged to stay engaged in the AEDP community through:
- Continuing education and advanced training
- Supervision and AEDP experiential assisting
- Participation in AEDP events
