Hudson Valley Workshop • Natasha Prenn, LCSW

How to translate affective neuroscience and attachment theory into Effective Clinical Practice

A workshop with Natasha Prenn, LCSW

at Hudson Valley Guild’s Advances in Psychotherapy: Mind-body Approaches to Adult Attachment Disorder

AEDP Senior Faculty member Natasha Prenn will join with Suzi Tortora (of Malcolm Gladwell’s “What the dog saw” fame) and John Montgomery to present: Mind-body approaches to adult attachment disorder.

Natasha will present her thoughts, ideas and interventions to bridge the very real gap between attachment theory and mother-infant research and the actual clinical practice of adult attachment-based, experiential treatments. Natasha will present video examples to demonstrate a variety of AEDP essential skills: moment-to- moment tracking of nonverbal communication, anxiety regulation, emotion processing to completion and how to anchor the work in the body. She will show examples of self- disclosure and its metaprocessing to demonstrate this most effective and challenging AEDP relational unit of intervention. Natasha will provide hand-outs with actual words and phrases of what she calls ‘experiential language’ to bridge the theory-practice gap, to deepen the work and engender secure attachment moment-to-moment and session-to- session.
