Anthony Prendergast, Psychotherapist, MSc, MBACP
After breaking my neck in a cycle accident and suffering a period of paralysis, I began to reevaluate my previous life and embarked on a process of personal development, including Buddhist meditation. I wanted to find a purpose for my life. Working as a listening volunteer for the suicide prevention Samaritans organization, based in the UK, gave me a new sense of purpose. It was a calling that became dear to my heart after one of my nieces had committed suicide.
Eventually this led onto studying counselling and psychotherapy, culminating in a Master’s degree in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, becoming a Certified Transactional Analyst and a complete change of career. Later I studied many other kinds of therapy and have been studying AEDP since seeing Diana Fosha present at a conference in London in 2018. The focus in AEDP on transformational change was what attracted me to AEDP.
