Description

Over the past two and a half decades, I have had the honor of assisting a wide variety of individuals, couples and families, most with histories of intergenerational trauma or personal experiences of loss and hardship. In the process, they have talked with me about their longing for more self-acceptance and closeness with others, a stronger sense of their own inherent goodness, the freedom to express themselves more freely and live with greater confidence in their dreams. I've listened attentively, as they've shared stories of their often brave efforts to wrestle with conflicts that have wreaked havoc in their lives, to courageously acknowledge the realities of the loneliness, shame, fear and sadness they have experienced and pursue changes in their lives, even without hope that such changes were possible. If you are at a similar crossroads, and seeking a new experience of living, psychotherapy can provide you with the guidance, support and tools to pursue your aspirations for yourself and your life.

When approached with commitment and care, psychotherapy can be profoundly reparative and life-altering. It can help you discover what most nourishes and sustains your well-being and deepen your experience of yourself, your life and your relationships with others. It can also help you recover from the aftermaths of trauma, neglect and abuse, cope with hardship, live your life with more hopefulness, optimism and open-heartedness and shift life-long patterns of loneliness, alienation, fear, sadness, self-loathing and depression.

The presence of a caring, empathic, relationally psychotherapist, offering encouragement and support for the emergence of the self, can help persons begin to relate to themselves more compassionately and kindly. The experience of such therapeutic support can also help facilitate the development of a more secure, safe, confident, cohesive and integrated sense of self as well as a sense of heightened well-being.

If you are seeking such support, I would be glad to help.

I enjoy assisting a wide variety of individuals, couples and families, including those new to the process of therapy. While offering a general practice, I have extensive experience serving adoptees and persons who have experienced early life loss, neglect and abuse as well as persons recovering from adversities in adulthood. I have a special interest in supporting couples with histories of trauma or living with cultural differences and persons with strong creative or spiritual orientations.
