Becoming an AEDP Certified Therapist
Learn. Practice. Demonstrate.
Becoming an AEDP Certified Therapist is a developmental process that integrates training, supervision, and demonstrated clinical competence.
Learn the Model: complete the required certification courses
Build a strong foundation through core courses—Immersion, Essential Skills, and Advanced Skills—along with supervision. You will develop:
- A deep understanding of AEDP theory
- Fluency in clinical maps
- Skill in core interventions
Practice with Support: complete the required supervision
Supervision is where the model comes alive. In supervision, you will:
- Translate theory into real clinical work
- Strengthen moment-to-moment tracking and responsiveness
- Deepen attunement to your clients—and to yourself
- Experience the presence and co-regulation central to AEDP
View the Supervision page for more information
Demonstrate Competence: complete the recorded sessions and written work
Certification is achieved by demonstrating your clinical effectiveness through recorded sessions and written work. You will show the ability to:
- Stay emotionally present and regulated
- Facilitate core affect and transformational change
- Apply interventions with flexibility and precision
- Repair ruptures and deepen the therapeutic process
Certification is not about checking boxes—it is about integration, presence, and transformational capacity.
