The Talk: Jerry will be discussing his chapter in the recently released book, “Undoing Aloneness and the Transformation of Suffering: AEDP 2.0”. Called “Finding Healing in the Broken Places – Intra-relational AEDP work with Traumatic aloneness”, the chapter explores AEDP-informed parts work as a means of helping our clients transform overwhelming states of aloneness, dread, despair and shame into opportunities for growth and healing. Mr. Lamagna will discuss the topic of pathogenic affects in the context of AEDP metapsychology and examine the general usefulness of parts work in AEDP.

Meet the Presenters

Jerry Lamagna, LCSW

Jerry is a senior faculty member with the AEDP Institute and a psychotherapist in private practice in Manhattan and Westfield, New Jersey. With training in psychodrama, EMDR, ego state therapy, trauma treatment and IFS and over 20 years studying AEDP, his clinical work has primarily focused on the treatment of complex trauma. Along with Dr. Kari Gleiser, Jerry developed a modified version of AEDP for the treatment of dissociative disorders and has published three papers and a book chapter (AEDP 2.0) on AEDP work with trauma. In addition to writing, supervising and providing psychotherapy, Jerry has presented internationally at conferences sponsored by the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI), the International Experiential and Dynamic Therapy Association (IEDTA), National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the AEDP Institute.

Carrie Ruggieri, LMHC, BCETS

Carrie Ruggieri, LMHC has been an active member of the AEDP Institute since completing the Immersion course in 2007. She completed core training with Kari Gleiser, Eileen Russel and Natasha Prenn, and ongoing group supervision with Ben Lipton. Carrie is an experiential assistant for the Essential Skills courses. She has been the Transformance Journal Listserve discussant since 2013 and Associate Editor for the Journal since 2019.
