This course is intended for licensed practitioners interested in AEDP, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy. Our focus is on AEDP’s transformational theory and practice using AEDP work at the edge of healing experience to repair attachment trauma. Making extensive use of clinical videotapes of actual therapy sessions as well as one half day of experiential work guided by assistants. The aim of this course is to introduce AEDP and facilitate its integration into clinical practices that make use of other experiential, body-focused, trauma-based, relational and/or psychodynamic methods.
AEDP seeks to undo the patient’s aloneness in the face of overwhelming suffering and to engage innate healing forces within, i.e., transformance, so as to heal trauma, restore vitality to self experience, and engender resilience.
AEDP Immersion is the first course in a series of certification courses for licensed therapists who are seeking to become AEDP Certified.
AEDP Immersion: Theoretical Framework, Clinical Teaching from Videotapes, Experiential Exercises: The AEDP Immersion course will teach you how to work at the edge of transformational experience and how to use body-based affective transformational markers to guide interventions. You will learn how to use AEDP’s rigorous transformational phenomenology to closely track clinical processes. Extensive use of clinical videotapes will demonstrate hallmark AEDP techniques.
In the Immersion course we also seek to undo clinicians’ aloneness by working to foster a vibrant community of like-minded, like-hearted others. It is the vision of the course to bring together clinicians from different perspectives who share an interest in AEDP specifically and/or in dynamic-experiential work in general, and who also each bring their own very special expertise, interest and experiences. In this way, Immersion is not only exciting and enlivening for its participants, but AEDP itself continues to be enriched and enhanced by being in communication with many deep sources of knowledge and wisdom.
What an Average Day Looks Like:
- Theoretical presentations grounding the clinical work in the conceptual framework of AEDP’s healing oriented transformational theory.
- Clinical teaching revolving around clinical videotapes, with a focus on the phenomenology of transformation as well as techniques and strategies of intervention. Special attention will be accorded to working with the experience of transformation, the healing affects, offering and receiving affirmation, and promoting core state experiencing, all in the context of transforming attachment trauma. In essence, this Immersion course is a soup-to-nuts course in AEDP.
- And there is also opportunity to practice aspects of AEDP through structured experiential exercises.
Includes 1 year free AEDP Membership ($130 value)!

Meet the Lead Presenter
Jerry Lamagna, LCSW
Jerry Lamagna, LCSW is a senior faculty member with the AEDP Institute and a psychotherapist in private practice in Manhattan and Westfield, New Jersey. His early career focused specifically on treating adult children raised in alcoholic families, where exposure to clinical challenges associated with complex trauma inspired him to pursue training in approaches like psychodrama, EMDR, ego state therapy, trauma/dissociative disorder treatment, IFS and of course, AEDP.
In 2004, Jerry, along with Dr. Kari Gleiser developed a modified version of AEDP for the treatment of dissociative disorders. Since then, Jerry has authored three articles on AEDP and its application in treating complex trauma and in 2015 released a three DVD training video of his teaching and live clinical work. In addition to writing, supervising and providing psychotherapy, Jerry teaches AEDP in North America and Europe.
Meet the Guest Presenters
H. Jacquie Ye-Perman, PhD
H. Jacquie Ye-Perman, PhD I am an AEDP Certified Supervisor and Therapist, and a licensed psychologist in private practice in Iowa, U.S. I provide online individual and group supervision in the U.S., China, and internationally. I also travel to China to teach AEDP courses, and I assist in AEDP courses in the U.S. and Canada. I am enthusiastic about the topic of cross-cultural applicability of AEDP and have written and presented on this topic with Diana Fosha at the SEPI 2019 conference.
I grew up in China and moved to Canada in 2001, to study psychology, and to look for an answer to my life. Encountering Diana Fosha and AEDP marked the end of my wandering, and the beginning of my path of clarity, determination, and joy, incidentally in both professional and personal life. I find it invigorating to be living amongst my fellow AEDP-ers, to learn from my AEDP teachers, supervisors (Diana Fosha, Karen Pando-Mars, Danny Yeung), peers, students and supervisees alike. With two near-death past experiences in mind, I take it as part of my life mission to translate Diana Fosha’s “the Transforming Power of Affects” into Chinese, along side other translation work. I also work on being a translator in supervising and teaching, such that I use my own voice to articulate AEDP, in a way that could be experienced/felt by the supervisee, based on their own backgrounds and “languages”. I also pay attention to needs for short-term treatment based on my years of work at college counseling settings, and enjoy incorporating the power of AEDP in my work with couples and groups.
Outside being an AEDP “nerd”, you may find me indulging in “the British Baking Show”, trying out Flamenco dance, listening to my parents’ stories about political trauma and changes, debating with my Scandinavian-American, ethnomusicologist husband, and learning from my ever evolving todler son and baby daughter.
