Presented by Judy Silvan, LCSW

 Friday, July 19, 2024 | 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST

Level: Open to all levels

This seminar will support your AEDP processing of complex and sexual traumas. Together, we will observe clinical videos featuring clients struggling to heal from early attachment deficits due to sexual and other complex trauma.

Description

This seminar will support your AEDP processing of complex and sexual traumas, which often arise in our caseloads and frequently result in C-PTSD. Together, we will observe clinical videos featuring clients struggling to heal from early attachment deficits due to sexual and other complex trauma. We will focus on both parts of the therapeutic dyad to build our intuitive capacities, along with strengthening our facility with AEDP interventions. This seminar will help you understand the arc of a session and the course of treatment while tracking inter-relational clinical work. You will have ample opportunity to meta-process your internal experiences as we witness AEDP-style portrayals, rupture-repair cycles, parts-work, defense work, and direct work within the ‘trauma vortex’ (Peter Levine). We will demonstrate how the AEDP model helps us discern and shift maladaptive affect and pathogenic pain into affective change processes, healing trajectories, and resulting adaptive action tendencies in people’s outside lives.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Apply AEDP interventions to lessen protective defenses and build dyadic attachment security in clinical work with patients processing complex or sexual trauma.
  • Utilize self-disclosure and authenticity; understand when and how authentic judiciousness is a skill to mobilize a healing trajectory with patient processing of complex trauma events from their history.
  • Recognize signal affect to understand completion of an intervention and “what to do next”, during the patient’s processing of traumatic events.
  • Name AEDP skills and protocols to decrease both clinician and patient dysregulation, anxiety & defense with patients as they process current life triggers to elements of their complex trauma.
  • Apply moment-by-moment scans and micro-tracks with patients processing complex and sexual-trauma, utilizing AEDP defense work to decrease and transform mal-adaptive affect into core adaptive healing affect and trajectories.
