Elley Newton, LCSW-R, AEDP Certified Therapist
Hi! I’m Elley, an AEDP Certified Therapist and Supervisor-In-Training. I’ve been a member of the Experiential Assistant team since 2023 and am a member of the AEDP Finger Lakes community. I maintain a private practice in rural upstate New York near the Finger Lakes with primary areas of focus being adolescent and emerging adult mental health, as well as working with complex trauma across the life span. I also enjoy providing therapy for other therapists.
I consider my supervision style to be warm, authentic, encouraging, playful, curious, and to have a strong relational focus. I really enjoy helping supervisees build confidence in themselves as AEDP clinicians. I love to hold right brain attunement and presence while nerding out left-brain style about AEDP theory. Whether supervisees are just starting their AEDP journey or moving towards certification, I feel enlivened helping support that particular layer of learning that we can do together and enjoy tailoring supervision to meet the specific needs of clinicians’ current growing edges.
Other areas that I have enjoyed supporting clinician learning have included presenting for the AEDP Institute’s Clinician’s Corner on Relational Healing in Emerging Adulthood and teaching as an adjunct in the Masters of Social Work program at Keuka College, where I delight in sneaking in the spirit of AEDP into the curriculum.
When not engaged in my therapy and supervision work, you can likely find me enjoying slow, quiet moments through tending to my little flock of chickens, gardening, drawing birds, and embroidering.
