Faculty
The pinnacle of AEDP mastery and dedication, AEDP Institute Faculty demonstrate excellence in advancing the model through research, writing, teaching, and practice.
Diana Fosha and the early faculty members (2000–2020) were instrumental in shaping the AEDP model and the Institute, with many still actively contributing. Thirteen Senior Faculty members co-authored Undoing Aloneness & the Transformation of Suffering Into Flourishing: AEDP 2.0, published by APA in 2022 and edited by Diana. This book highlights major theoretical updates since Diana Fosha’s 2000 publication, The Transforming Power of Affect.

Director
Diana Fosha, PhD
Diana Fosha, PhD, is the developer of AEDP™, a healing-based, radically relational, transformation-oriented experiential psychotherapy. She is the Founder and Director of the AEDP Institute.
For more than two decades, Diana has championed a scientific foundation for AEDP, a therapeutic approach that focuses on healing trauma, repairing attachment wounds, and rekindling vitality. Her work integrates positive neuroplasticity, recognition science, and dyadic developmental research into experiential and transformative clinical practice. Her most recent work focuses on promoting flourishing as a seamless part of the AEDP therapeutic process of transforming emotional suffering. Drawing on affective neuroscience, attachment theory, mother-infant developmental research, and research documenting the undreamed-of-plasticity in the adult brain, AEDP exemplifies the integration of scientific research and clinical practice in psychotherapy.
Based in New York City, where she lives and practices, Fosha has been on the faculties of the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology of NYU and St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Medical Centers (now Mount Sinai) in NYC, and of the doctoral programs in Clinical Psychology at the Derner Institute for Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University and at The City University of New York.

Kate Halliday, LCSW
Kate Halliday, LCSW, is Senior Faculty, AEDP Institute from Ithaca, New York.
Throughout Kate’s nearly 30 years as a psychotherapist, She has always been better at noticing the ways her clients are remarkable, resilient, and lovable than theorizing about the ways they are wounded.
Kate has always been drawn to images, representations, and experiences of transformation. Music, poetry, literature, the natural world, and emotional relationships have always been her education. When Kate started learning to be a teacher of young children (in her first career she worked for Head Start and in elementary schools), and then to be a therapist, it was the magic of witnessing change and growth in other human beings that enlivened the experience for her. In psychotherapy, this led Kate to study Family Systems Theory and Narrative Therapy, then EMDR, and finally AEDP. (Read More…)
